Frequently Asked Questions (F.A.Q.'s)

Please contact us if you cannot find an answer to your question. Call 201-584-0888.

Real estate agents help people buy, sell, rent, and invest in property—but the job goes far beyond showing homes. Agents advise clients on pricing, contracts, negotiations, marketing, inspections, and closing details. It’s part salesperson, part advisor, part problem-solver—and no two days are the same.

Income varies widely. Some agents earn a few thousand dollars in their first year, while top-performing agents in New Jersey earn six figures (or more). Your income depends on effort, consistency, market knowledge, and support—skills we focus on developing at Legacy School of Real Estate. Remember the only limit is YOU. There is no "ceiling" in real estate, which makes it a highly desirable career for people looking to drastically increase their income.

  • Complete a 75 hour pre-licensing course administered by a licensed real estate school. We are licensed by the New Jersey Real Estate Commission.
  • Be at least 18 years of age or older at the time of the state exam
  • Have a high school education or equivalency at the time of the state exam
  • Have/Obtain a SSN or ITIN
  • Be of good moral character

Many students complete the process in 1-3 months. This includes the 75-hour pre-licensing course, exams, and license activation. Your timeline depends on your schedule and how quickly you move through each step. Many have completed the entire process in a little over a month by choosing the fast-track full-time course.

No experience required! You only need to be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma (or equivalent). We teach everything from the ground up.

Yes—real estate is known for flexibility, but it still requires discipline. You control your schedule, but your success depends on how consistently you work your business. You can literally make a limitless amount of money; it all depends on YOU!

Yes. Many agents start part-time while transitioning from another career. Over time, some shift to full-time once their income becomes more consistent. Real estate is also a popular choice for those looking to supplement their income or turn their love for homes/people into a legitimate money-making option.

We don’t just help you pass the exam—we prepare you for a real career. Our approach combines exam prep, real-world education, career guidance, and ongoing support beyond licensing.

We offer Live Online Zoom classes and Self-Paced Online courses, so you can choose what works best for your schedule and learning style. Our classes allow you to attend class from the comfort of your own home, while still getting a quality, interactive learning experience.

Yes. We guide students through how to evaluate brokerages, what questions to ask, and how to choose the best fit for their goals. Remember, when you become an agent, you are an independent contractor and can choose to join whichever brokerage aligns best with your needs. We are here to help you every step of the way.

No. You only need a brokerage after passing the state exam to activate your license.

It can be challenging, but it’s absolutely passable with the right preparation. We focus on high-tested topics, exam strategy, and confidence-building—not just memorization. We also offer comprehensive exam review sessions to ensure that our students are confident in passing the exam. Our exam pass rate is 98% due to our commitment to our students' success!

You can retake it. Many successful agents didn’t pass on their first attempt. We help you identify weak areas and improve your strategy. No matter how many times it takes, we are with you every step of the way!

New Jersey requires 75 hours of approved pre-licensing education before taking the state exam. We offer several scheduling options, including both day and evening sessions.

Yes! Students receive access to downloadable PDFs, study guides, exam checklists, math formula sheets, and more. We also offer daily class recaps which highlight the key points and exam tips for each session.

Fair Housing, agency relationships, contracts, NJ license law, and real estate math are some of the most heavily tested topics. We ensure that our sessions prepare you to pass the exam and focus on the most important aspects.

Real estate markets change, but people always need housing. Skilled agents adapt, pivot, and find opportunities in any market.

Costs typically include tuition, exam fees, licensing fees, and startup expenses. Be prepared to spend between $500 - $1,000 to get started. We’re transparent about costs so there are no surprises. Our pre-licensing classes start at just $299, which makes it an affordable option for most budgets.

Yes—beyond the exam, we focus on lead generation, mindset, career planning, and what successful agents actually do day-to-day. Our goal is not only for you to pass the exam, but also launch a successful and sustainable career in real estate.

You’re not alone. We break down prospecting in a realistic, approachable way and show you multiple methods—not just cold calling.

Not at all. You only need to master a few core formulas, and we make real estate math simple and manageable.

Some agents close within their first 30–90 days. Others take longer. Preparation, support, and consistency make a big difference.

Absolutely. Real estate attracts people from all backgrounds—and flexibility is a huge advantage for parents and entrepreneurs. Remember, the only limit in real estate is YOU.

We continue to offer resources, workshops, guest speakers, and guidance to help you transition from student to working agent.

Yes. Many of our students balance work, family, and school successfully with our flexible options. In fact, many agents continue to work a full-time job even after earning their license.
